worldwide for its safety standards. Dr. Pendergraft has been
a pioneer in developing safe abortion techniques throughout
all stages of pregnancy. All procedures at Orlando Women's Center
are designed to maximize patient safety and provide the best
possible surgical technique.
A major component of this safety
program is the emphasis on sound preoperative evaluation of
each patient which includes medical history, physical examination,
and routine diagnostic ultrasound evaluation for pregnancies
greater than 14 weeks gestation.
A second component is strict attention
to good principles of surgical technique and medical management.
A third component is proper postoperative
care and follow-up procedures to assure prompt recognition
and treatment of all complications, including the most minor.
