Pre-Operative Instructions

Upon arrival to the center you may expect the following events to take place:

For All Abortion Appointments:

  • Must bring photo ID. Companions must bring photo ID to enter building
  • Small children will not be permitted
  • Purses, backpacks and bags of any kind will not be permitted
  • Payment is required at the time of visit, prior to the procedure
  • Personal checks will not be accepted
  • Discuss any medications you may be taking with staff prior to your appointment

Surgical Abortion Procedures

With Local Anesthesia:
  • Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours prior to your appointment time
  • Dress comfortably in a loose fitting, two-piece outfit
  • Wear regular underwear (no thongs)
  • Wear socks and bring sweater if you chill easily in air conditioning

With IV Sedation or General Anesthesia:

  • Nothing to eat or drink after midnight
  • Dress comfortably in a loose fitting, two-piece outfit
  • Wear regular underwear (no thongs)
  • Wear no jewelry
  • Wear low-heeled, comfortable shoes
  • Must have someone to drive you home

Chemical Abortion Procedures (Abortion by Pill)
No restrictions other than those listed above for all appointments

2nd & 3rd Trimester Procedures (Requiring extended stay)

  • No restrictions other than those listed above for all appointments
  • Wear regular underwear (no thongs)
  • Dress comfortably in a loose fitting, two-piece outfit
  • Bring an extra change of clothing and two extra pair of underwear
  • Wear socks and bring a sweater if you chill easily in air conditioning
  • A bag is permitted for extended stay patients. Bag will be checked by security.
  • For your additional comfort, you may wish to bring a favorite pillow, food and beverage items and personal care items for showering.
