The patient is put to sleep using IV sedation and a small incision is made above the pubic bone very similar to a low transverse abdominal incision but about half the length. The peritoneal cavity is entered where the female pelvic organs can be seen (ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus. Small portions of each fallopian tube are cut and tied and the incision is closed and the patient is taken to the recovery room where she may remain for approximately one hour and then discharged home.
